No.001 is our expression of classic Uji matcha — shaped by Uji’s long tradition of refinement. A pleasant sweetness comes first, followed by mellow depth and umami, unfolding in balanced layers that finish with a smooth, clean aftertaste.
Our No.001 uses tencha from Wazuka in Kyoto, a valley near Uji renowned for over 800 years of tea cultivation. Its geography creates marked differences between day and night temperatures, producing frequent mist that naturally shades the leaves and enhances their umami.
Whether you are discovering matcha for the first time or it is already part of your daily lifestyle, this is simply a timeless classic.
We created this 50g value pack for our loyal daily matcha drinkers who enjoy our signature range. It's an economical option perfect for regular consumption. However, if you don't drink matcha frequently, we recommend choosing a smaller size to preserve its freshness. There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly opened matcha!
MATSU matcha No.001-003 are exclusive blends created in collaboration with an esteemed Japanese tea sommelier. Each blend is meticulously crafted to bring out the unique flavour profiles specific to the renowned matcha regions Kyoto and Kirishima. A perfect go-to for both usucha (straight matcha, akin to drip coffee) and lattes.
How to Prepare
Usucha
Matcha: 2g
Cold water: approx 10ml (enough to make a paste)
Hot water: 80-90°C, approx 60ml
Additional hot water (*optional): 0-50ml (adjust to your liking)

- Sift the matcha into a bowl
- Mix in the cold water and use a chasen (bamboo whisk) to make a thick paste.*Make sure there are no clumps in the paste.
- Pour the hot water into the bowl and whisk vigorously until matcha is fully dispersed.
- Add extra hot water to your liking.
- Enjoy!

Matcha: 2-3g
Cold water: approx 10ml (enough to make a paste)
Hot water: 80-90°C, approx 30ml
Steamed milk of your choice: 180ml (adjust to your liking)

- Sift the matcha into a bowl
- Mix in the cold water and use a chasen (bamboo whisk) to make a thick paste.*Make sure there are no clumps in the paste.
- Pour the hot water into the bowl and whisk vigorously until matcha is fully dispersed.
- Pour the steamed milk (or warm milk if you don’t have a steamer) into your matcha mix. Our favourite is oat milk!
* For an iced matcha latte, pour the matcha mix into a glass of cold milk, ideally with lots of ice. - Enjoy!
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep tightly sealed to avoid contact with air and odour.
