Whether you’re new to matcha or returning to the ritual, the MATSU matcha Starter Kit is the perfect place to begin. This set brings together the essentials for preparing authentic matcha at home.

Choose one of our Signature Range matchas — carefully crafted blends that reflect the richness of Japanese terroir. Paired with a glass matcha bowl, bamboo whisk, and whisk rest, it’s everything you need to start your matcha journey.

What’s Included:

• MATSU matcha (20g) — Your choice of No.001, No.002, or No.003

• Glass matcha bowl — Minimal, modern, and dishwasher-safe — the perfect everyday whisking bowl

• Bamboo whisk (chasen) — For creating a smooth, silky microfoam

• Whisk rest (kusenaoshi) — Keeps your whisk in shape and helps extend its life

How to Prepare

Usucha

Matcha: 2g

Cold water: approx 10ml (enough to make a paste)

Hot water: 80-90°C, approx 60ml

Additional hot water (*optional): 0-50ml (adjust to your liking)

Sift the matcha into a bowl
Mix in the cold water and use a chasen (bamboo whisk) to make a thick paste.*Make sure there are no clumps in the paste.
Pour the hot water into the bowl and whisk vigorously until matcha is fully dispersed.
Add extra hot water to your liking.
Enjoy!

Matcha Latte

Matcha: 2-3g

Cold water: approx 10ml (enough to make a paste)

Hot water: 80-90°C, approx 30ml

Steamed milk of your choice: 180ml (adjust to your liking)

Sift the matcha into a bowl
Mix in the cold water and use a chasen (bamboo whisk) to make a thick paste.*Make sure there are no clumps in the paste.
Pour the hot water into the bowl and whisk vigorously until matcha is fully dispersed.
Pour the steamed milk (or warm milk if you don’t have a steamer) into your matcha mix. Our favourite is oat milk!
* For an iced matcha latte, pour the matcha mix into a glass of cold milk, ideally with lots of ice.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep tightly sealed to avoid contact with air and odour.
