Rich and aromatic with a gentle sweetness, enjoy our Hōjicha powder KUKI in a milky latte, hot or iced.

Our Hōjicha powder Kuki is crafted exclusively from the stems of cha-no-ki (tea plants) in Kyoto. Compared to the leaves, the stems carry a mild, sweet flavour and are naturally low in caffeine. The rich roasted flavour of Hōjicha also works excellently in sweets and baked goods. Finely milled like our matcha, it serves as a delightful, low-caffeine alternative to matcha lattes, making our Hōjicha powder Kuki an ideal choice for a relaxing evening drink.

How to Prepare

Hōjicha powder: 4g

Cold water: approx 10ml (enough to make a paste)

Hot water: 80-90°C, approx 40ml

Steamed milk of your choice: 150ml (adjust to your liking)

---

  1. Sift the powder into a bowl
  2. Mix in cold water and use a Chasen (bamboo whisk) to make a thick paste.
  3. Add hot water into the bowl and whisk vigorously until the powder is fully dispersed.
  4. Pour steamed milk (or warm milk if you don’t have a steamer) to your Hōjicha mix. Our favourite is oat milk!
  5. Enjoy!
